Superstition

How do we actually define the word 'superstitious'? Some say, to follow or to obey one's belief blindly, irrationally. A friend mentioned the traditions applied by his family during Chinese New Year, not to sweep the floor, not to wash the hair, not to use the scissors and so on. Another person replied saying those are the acts of superstition, instead of tradition. And why is that? Simple. The latter does not believe it, or shall we say, it is not included in what he believed in? Is it true that the rules mentioned are nothing but superstition? Again, yes and no, answers varies from one perspective to another. At times, we may be thinking what the others believed in is superstitious, however, let's not forgetting that they too might be having the same thought as ours, thinking we are being superstitious. So, perhaps we shall sit back and listen to their stories, whatever they want to share with regarding their belief and not comment on them. Peace.
