Saw a man standing at one side of the park, as if waiting for someone. Well, he is. In fact, he does that every morning, every weekdays. "We pay him RM5 per month and now everyday, he would be there waiting for us, and leaves if nobody show up at the end of the day," said one of the members in the group. Though she tries to convince that the man himself is lonely, somehow there is this feeling that, this is not the right thing to do. It is undeniable that a 50 year old man might be lonely without being surrounded by words and laughter, but, to let him waits for hours till sun rises? With no phone calls or text messages when they couldn't make it? By thinking that he gets money while all he has to do is none other than waiting for people's arrival? Personally, this is insulting, to the person who does voluntarily teaching, to his feelings of seeing his group of students showing up at the other side of the park, and most of all, to his lonely heart. At times, we would be thinking, "Who cares? We pay him for that." So what? Does that not mean he deserve some respect? As a teacher? As a friend? At young, we were taught to appreciate what the others have done for us and yet, as time passes, some of us tend to judge people by money. Is that what we should be learning now? I wonder.
