The Scale

When it comes to numbering, one would usually be the first number, not to mention the highest in ranking, which is why the smaller the better. However, value and rating are totally the opposite. Scaling from one to ten, we rate one particular person and event, differentiating the levels of feelings, for instance happiness, pressure and the list goes on. Some are satisfied with being just the average and some don’t, be it a number nine which represents ‘almost perfect’, not forgetting people might have rated differently from one to another, as perspectives are not equally the same. Have you ever been through the situation where all coins of four are combined in order to pay for the breads and stuff which cost RM7, with 5 cents extra? What about buying 1.5 liter of 100 plus, getting four tiny cups which usually being used to test drinks or sort, thus finish one whole bottle as if we are taking alcoholic drinks, more or less like the Chinese style few hundred years back then? Some may think it is awful, but personally, it was fun, a different way of enjoying life and yes, certain people might oppose saying that we are consoling ourselves, in spite of having such pathetic lifestyle. A very big difference in scaling and perspectives, isn’t it? Do define the word pathetic; having dozens of friends and family who are so dear and care for us, daily routine which is filled with laughter and smiles for most of the time, not having ourselves to fake out any smiles, when we are with the closest of all? Or spending about every minute with the frenemies, people who sometimes act as our friends and become the enemies on the next, showing off how good we have been in front of all eyes and start complaining when there aren’t any? We are the ones who are to set the scale, on every items, every deeds, every levels, every styles, including our very own perspectives and views.
