Cell Phones

Long ago, a parent said she can never understand why most teenagers in the current days keep their cell phones by their sides 24/7, who later on went nuts for not having hers during an outing. Rather ironic I suppose, since the parent itself cannot live without the hand phone nowadays, though it might not apply to all. Why does cell phone even exist in the first place? Why people even bother to buy one? Perhaps it is all about the easier communication between one and another or to ease the lonely hearts of many. Long before the existence of these communicating machines, we have letters to send our regards, to show that we care and to link us from one to another, not to mention we ended up looking out the windows every now and then, hoping to receive a reply from the other corner of the Earth. With the latest technology, we do not need to wait for ages in order to hear the voices we have been missing so much and yet, we would still check our cell phones every moment possible. Does that not mean that we are afraid to be alone, where our existence is not acknowledged? Be it millions of times one asks to leave him alone, be it trillion times one says he does not like to have people around, be it a zillion times one sits at the corner, staring into the air, there would be times where one does not want to be left behind, to be alone, to be forgotten. Even the lone wolf is not alone; as it travels in group, leading the group and protects the group. What about mankind?
