When to Fail

Went to French fine dining with a friend and his mates, experienced something new. In one of the conversations the lady mentioned about her friend who failed the exam in the last 30 seconds due to the smallest mistake, when everything was going smooth and well. Like what most people would say, “Ouch.” We do have a saying in which failure is the mother of success. Well, that is if we did not give up upon our hopes and skills obtained. It varies from one perspective to another really, as incidents taken place, whereby some may not be able to carry out the task given from the very beginning and those who failed to complete theirs when they are half way through or for worse, when they are this close to the finishing touch. Indeed, having to fail at start is depressing, for we do not get to put in any efforts at all; not able to put our skills to test, not able to work things out along the way and not able to see how it would end before it is even started, in the sense of being ended after a certain efforts put in that is. In the other case, we have those who were so close to the top tripped and fell, where we then have to start from the scratch all over again. Whining and nagging we might be, wishing us not have made that insignificant yet significant mistake in the first place, but what is done is done, and there goes another regret recorded. Having to fail is one of the very few must-face experiences in life; therefore, it is the learning experience that matters, better than not able to give it a try at all. In any cases, if I were given a choice of when to fail, close to the finishing touch would be the best, at least I know how far I can go and how well I do, and so when the similar opportunity shows I would show no hesitation.
