Forgive vs Forget

"I don't mind, really." A common phrase when certain questions were asked. Very often, we heard people saying, "I can forgive but never forget." Well, it sort a conflicts with one another, personally. When a person forgives one's mistake, he wouldn't have repeated the stories over and over again now, would he? So, yea, we do not truly forgive a person who left us much pain in the wound, unless, we actually forgotten the feelings we once felt, the anger, the hatred and the depression. Of course, it requires time to recover. How long it takes? We never know. Therefore, isn't it the time we start using the phrase "I forgive when I forget" instead of the previous one?
